Vandals Rewrite History on Hari Merdeka Wiki

Edit: Credits to Daniel Yeo for pointing this out to me. You rock, dude. 😀

Someone (or a group of someones) had so much time on his hands that he rewrote part of the Hari Merdeka article on Wikipedia, playing off one of the biggest peeves many people have with Wikipedia.

The online community encyclopedia’s articles – known as wikis – can be written and edited by just about anyone on the Internet.

In the latest example of the abuse of this privilege, the culprit(s) involved equated the formation of the Federation of Malaya, as Peninsular Malaya was known then [link], with Nazism [link].

For the uninitiated, the German term ‘Reich‘ means empire. The term was made infamous by none other than Adolf Hitler himself, who used it to refer to Nazi Germany’s dreams of continental conquest [link].

Thus, The Awesomesauce Times brings to you exclusively a cached version of the vandalised wiki article for your viewing pleasure. [link]

P.S. To Wikipedia’s credit, the vandalism was quickly repaired and the wiki has since been restored to its original state. [link]
